Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of First Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. First Baptist members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

Mission Outreach

First Baptist is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We support over 20 missionaries all around the world. We also endeavor to take missions trips periodically both in the Unites States as well as to foreign countries. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Music

God-honoring music is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir.

Ushers

The usher team at First Baptist Church fills an important role. They are involved in ensuring the safety of the building during services, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of First Baptist Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook page for additional church communication.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, First Baptist holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from songs, to games, to object lessons.

Van Ministry

First Baptist is committed to reaching into the communities both in and around Pecatonica. One way we are able to reach families is through our Van ministry. We are able to pick up children in Pectonica, Winnebago, and German Valley, and hope to expand to even more areas as the Lord allows.

Master Clubs

From September to May, First Baptist has a Wednesday night children’s program called Master Clubs. Our amazing group of volunteers lead the children through games, memorizing verses, and studying God’s Word. We have seen tremendous growth in this ministry even in its first year.

Teen Group

At First Baptist we know the importance of giving our teens an opportunity to fellowship and learn with others their age. We offer a separate Sunday School specifically for teens, as well as a weekly teen night where they can enjoy games, and Bible study just for them.

Nursing Home

Once a month, First Baptist has the opportunity to go into the Prairie View Nursing Home in Winnebago to minister to the folks living there. Volunteers conduct a service with singing and preaching, as well as a time of fellowship with the residents there.
